Next up in our 2011 NFL Preview is the Jacksonville Jaguars. The fans in Jacksonville have been waiting patiently for some success, but they have not seen a lot in recent years. Last years Jaguars team was one that Coach Jack Del Rio never knew what he would see from week to week. Sometimes they would come out and play great, and other times it looked like they could not beat a high school team.
On offense it looks like David Garrard's hold on the starter spot could be in jeopardy this coming season. At times Garrard has struggle and with the Jaguars drafting Blaine Gabbert out of Missouri look for Gabbert to get a good look in the pre-season. Maurice Drew-Jones will lead a good rushing attack for the Jaguars, but the passing game needs work. With the Jaguars being under the cap they maybe able to get some receivers in here to help the offense.
The real problem last season was the defense and that must be addressed. One great move the Jaguars have made so far is signing Paul Posluszny. He signed a six year deal worth 45 million dollars with Jacksonville. This will help a defense that was near the bottom in almost every defensive category. Unless improvement is made on defense this season it is going to be another long season for Jaguar fans. The Jaguars need to show some improvement or Jack Del Rio could be fired early. If the Jaguars can reach .500 or better that will be a success for them in 2011.
